I think I've read just about every keto and low carb book on the market so when I came across KetoZoneDiet, I wasn't really interested in reading another book by another expert who was probably just jumping on the Keto bandwagon to make a buck. But I've been slacking abit in my ketolife so I bought it, if for nothing else, just to spike my motivation. And indeed it has succeeded in doing that. Having said that, the best audience for this book is the newbie to the low carb way of eating. The book is an easy read and the science of the lo carb lifestyle is presented in simple easy to understand terms. My personal story is that after a lifetime of yo yo dieting and eating a high carb diet I ended up with prediabetes. My doctor told me that I would probably progress to full blown diabetes within 5 years. I was probably in my early 50s at the time and since my own mother had died from Diabetes at the age of 67, it was a huge wake up call. Long story short I found the keto life and now in my 60s, my blood sugars are normal and I've never felt better or had more energy. And one of the most surprising things is that the energy levels are sustained throughout the day. No more ups and downs like I had on my normal bread, pasta and sweets diet. I'll admit, it wasn't easy giving up the foods I loved and grew up on but the results helped me get through it and eventually I got to the point where I didn't even miss those foods. The alternative is taking meds that may control your blood sugar but in the long run will only make your insulin resistance worse and result in more and more meds to control your blood sugar. Another book I highly recommend for those wishing to lose weight or to get a handle on their blood glucose levels is The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. He also has some great youtube videos. One thing it's important to know is that diabetes doesn't suddenly show up when you get in your 50s, it takes years to develop. So just because your body seemingly tolerates huge amounts of carbs now, don't assume that that will always be the case.
A wealth of information! I lost 15 pounds in my first month! The best part is I feel great and have energy. My moods have really improved. I have suffered skin breakouts for so long and tried so many things to clear it up. Being on this diet is clearing up the breakouts. I am in my 40's. I am recommending this book to my friends.

Here is what I especially like about this book:Dr. Colbert explains the Keto Zone Diet in an easy to understand way, without going into too many details. He lists Keto Zone Diet friendly foods at the end of the book and even provides a basic starter shopping list. The listed food is budget friendly and easy to obtain. You will also find general meal suggestions instead of complicated recipes that never get used. Dr. Colbert made me aware of the problematic IF fats which are used in many processed foods.Personally, I have been on a ketogenic diet for 3 months now and I have lost 20 pounds so far. My meals are satisfying and I do not get hungry between meals. My weight loss is slowing down and I will use Dr. Colberts meal suggestions and tips to fine tune my diet for continuous weight loss until I have reached my goal weight and for long term weight maintenance. For me the diet works and Dr. Colbert's book makes following it a breeze.A digital copy of this book was provided to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
While reading book started making menus in book and lost 7 lbs in 6 days followed that up with urine test strips to verify I was in the keto zone thank you dieted my whole life this is best never hungry and weight drops daily. Can't wait to do blood colesteral test in few months
I liked reading this book however it would have been great to have suggestions ( flu like symptoms, no loss of weight in two weeks, does it take longer for some people to adjust??). Otherwise the book is great to clean up the diet ( no sugar or processed foods). I'm just being honest, if your doing it to lose weight I guess you have to be patient.

I am 63 years old and was eating low carb and eating full fat dairy and could not lose weight. My husband also couldn't lose the weight he wanted. This was the answer to our weight loss problem. We both lost all of the weight we wanted, have more energy and sleep better. I didn't find it difficult to follow or hard to order in restaurants and we will be eating this way until we go to heaven :) Can't say enough good about it! I would recommend getting a keto cookbook or going on pinterest for baking recipes
