My daughter (age 10) read the first book of the Orphan Train series for an extracurricular club at school and loved it! She asked me to find the remaining books and _devoured_ them! She says the books told interesting stories and placed them well in an earlier time that was easy to picture and understand. I read the first book in the series and have to agree! My daughter recommends that these all be read in order and give yourself a lot of time to finish them all!
This was a very nice story for 5th to 8th graders. My middle school aged daughter really likes the Orphan Train Adventures series. These books tend to be easy to read and understand so they are great for children who struggle with reading comprehension. And, the storyline is exciting enough to keep the interest of older children. If your child enjoys reading about people's lives from the past, then they would enjoy this book.

I AM TRYING TO READ MS NIXON 'S WHOLE SERIES OF BOOKS. THEY ARE VERY INTEREST FOLLOWING ONE FAMILY THOUGH ALL THE THINGS OF THE ORPHAN TRAIN. SOME GET GOOD AND LOVING PARENTS OTHERS IN THE FAMILY GET PARENTS THAT ONLY WANT THE CHILDREN TO WORK FOR THEM AND THEY ARE TREATED VERY CRUELY. TO THINK THIS HAPPENED IN THE USA AND VERY FEW PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE ORPHAN TRAINS.
This would make an awesome read aloud for a class or for a family. We enjoyed it. Nice lessons to be learned.

I was charged for a hard cover copy of over $22. and was sent a paper back valued of about $2.35.and could not find a way to noteify the sender . And if they have gotten any of my attemps I ha ve not received anyreplys. Needless to say Im very disappointed in the service of this sender.Diana Strub
