Review

"Author Colin Comer freely admits that he was captivated by the legend of the Shelby Cobra at a young age and remains so. As a Cobra owner, restorer and racer, he brings to his book insider knowledge, not only talking the talk but also walking the walk. Beautifully laid out with a plethora of nicely reproduced photos." - Vintage Motorsport"In this book, Shelby Cobra - The snake that conquered the world Colin Comer takes us on the trail of Carroll Shelby's wild yet simple idea of putting gargantuan power into a relatively light car. This book was first published in 2011 under the title Cobra Fifty Years, so many fans out there will be familiar with it, but this is the Collectors Edition with updated material. For first timers, be assured that the $75.00 price befits a glossy 272-page book measuring 9.75" x 12" and packed with almost 400 superbly produced photographs (period and modern). In fact, if this was merely a picture book, I'd probably still say it was worth every cent. This may be the only Cobra book you'll ever need to own, and the fact that the late Carroll Shelby himself penned the Foreword to the 2011 edition would suggest this is the definitive work on this hallowed beast." - RACER.com"Carroll Shelby died on May 10, 2012, a palpable loss to the automotive community. A car like his Cobra will never be repeated. If you hanker to know more about the machine that emanated a ground-shaking rumble from its side-pipes, and do not already own Comer's earlier Shelby Cobra: 50 Years, you cannot do better than this superb book." - Petrolicious

This book is better than it deserves to be. Comer is a serious Cobra enthusiast and I appreciate and relate to that - but he's not a particularly refined writer and it shows. Too much first-person narrative and too many remarks that one would expect from a young sycophant. It's nice to admire the likes of Carroll Shelby and those who put the Cobra on the map, but it's another to swoon over them. Otherwise, the book is quite good with a nice selection of surprisingly fresh photos and some interesting historical tidbits that aren't a general rehash of the standard Cobra history that has become more than a little varnished with time. As one who has collected just about everything even remotely related to the history of the Cobra, I have no regrets having bought this book. My only complaint concerned the shipping - as my book came with a damaged spine and a seriously crimped corner - but that's the fault of Amazon, not the author!

If you have any interest in Shelby Cobras, then read this book. It's very informative and thoroughly covers the history of the Cobra including several great interviews with many of the people that worked behind the scenes to make the Cobra the most iconic American sports car. The photos alone are worth the price of the book. This is much more than just a pretty coffee table book - read it and enjoy it! Highly recommended.

This book is a great addition to my Shelby/Cobra/Mustang library. It offers many quality photos of the Cobra thru the years both on the track and the street. The book traces the car chronologically from it's beginning to now. If you are a modeler, it offers may detail shots. It is a must for any Shelby and or Cobra fan.

A lovely book no doubt , BUT , and it's a fairly big BUT , it is 99% the same as the authors previous publication " Shelby Cobra Fifty years" even down to the graphics for page numbering , so a little disappointing when one is expecting a new book . The only difference to the previous book is a couple of poster type fold out pages and the hard cover.

Admired Cobras? You'll love this book. It's got glorious pictures of all the players and all the Cobras, and lots of inside dirt.

Bow down to the almighty Cobra.

Wish there was more on the GT350 and GT500. This book mostly covers the AC Cobra.

Great history of the Cobra. Nothing on the new Ford models. Would have made this book even better.
