I came to the Eva/Gideon party late and was very hesitant to read this series mainly because it was touted as the 'next 50 shades'. I have to say that I'm glad that I read the books and enjoyed story and characters a great deal. Some of the topics were a 'lather, rinse, repeat' type of thing, but I have to admit that even though it was annoying, everything kept moving forward. The relationship between Gideon and Eva moved forward, even with all of the angst and such. Unfortunately, I didn't think this was worth the $36 it cost to get the four-novel set. The writing was good, the pacing was excellent, the characters (all of them) were likeable. I just expected a little more....something. Something was missing, and I still don't know what it is. All-in-all, it was an OK grouping of books - but it's not something that I would read over and over again.
OMG could there be any more boring sex in this book? I keep reading and skimming the sex scenes to get to the real story.The characters have marathon sex over and over again. Anyone with even a hyperactive sex drive could never maintain the pace. I keep waiting for the male character's character to be developed...I hope it happens soon. I'm at 50% and still waiting.
This series was recommended to me by several people and this is a review of books 1-4 of this series. I will be honest and say this is not my usual trope; I'm more of an angst free book lover. The amount of angst in this series is unbelievable. I had a hard time with that but at the same time I admired the writing ability of the author. This story focuses on the relationships of people who have been sexually assaulted at a young age and the long-lasting effects to them and their support system. I learned a lot from this book and I was glad to see the healing that was done by these characters throughout the series. This book is also very sexually explicit but don't worry it's all consensual between adults.
I have loved reading the first three books in this series. Before starting on this book i read the reviews and was worried i wouldn't like it. However, I decided to follow the series through each h book. I just finished it and have to say it's one of my favorite books in this series! I loved Gideon 's POV especially. It really helped me understand how motivation behind his actions. Plus, I really feel that through all the crap that keeps coming their direction they have had to fight harder to stay together, which is making them work through the negatives faults of both of them. I found myself crying with them, laughing with them and rooting for them! That's what true love is: never giving up, especially when the going gets tough! Please read this book!!
I have to say I did love it, I also found myself comparing it to the fifty shades of grey series.. I love both stories.. my only complaint is @ the end of One With You, you are left wondering so many things. Ex. Was Cary the father of Tat's baby (did she actually go thru w/ pregnancy) did Cary end up happy with trey.. did Eva & Gideon finally get true happiness and even have a family.. did Brett finally see the light and go away for real .. did Eva end up getting to a place she could help ppl that had went thru trams like she did and did she end up working side by side with Gideon .. I did enjoy this series but it's ending left so many ?'s and my only frustration with the way Sylvia Day writes she tends to repeat herself in every book going back and going over something already gone over and she really dragged these books out when it kinda wasn't needed. I do wish she had Eva & Gideon go thru with there 2nd wedding with family with her in her dress, would totally recommend this series to friends.
Okay, I'll admit, I am a big Fifty Shades fan, but I am going to be honest here. THIS IS BETTER THAN FIFTY SHADES! Gideon and Eva are more complex, more intriguing, and have a much deeper bond. The sexy parts were undeniably H O T, but the 'angsty' parts gutted me. I was literally SHAKING. By the last 3/4 of the last book, I found myself putting the book down and taking little breaks because I didn't want the story to end.
Thoroughly enjoyed the books, however, I wish she would have continued the series because I was still left with a lot of questions. One more book would have been awesome. Also, I would have liked for the story to have been told from Gideon's perspective from the very beginning (hint hint.) All in all it was a very captivating storyline, and I am still looking forward to seeing if Sylvia continues Eva & Gideon's love story.
I read all 4 books in 3 days. It is a wonderful Series. Very intense and sensual. I am so glad someone told me about it. I just hate to wait for other books to come out to finish the storyline. I thought this was all if it. Ughh it was a Good read none the less. It kept my attention throughout all 4 books though. I guess I'm partial to Christian though I admire the time it is actually taking for Cross to come to the realization of needing to change.
